Schools throughout the tri-county area will be competing for $6,500 in prizes to be awarded through Parent Teach Associations (PTAs) in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The contest is open to anyone – faculty, staff, students and parents – showing school spirit for K-12 schools, both public and private!   Here’s how it works: Contest participants will visit the Festival Flea Market Mall, located at 2900 W. Sample Road, and take a photo “phooning” in front of the Phooning back-drop. A phooning pose is defined as standing on one foot, tilted at the waist with one arm held out in front, the other bent behind. Photos will be judged based on school spirit, originality and creativity. A panel of South Florida celebrity judges will then deliberate and announce the top 10 most creative and spirited photos on November 2.   Then, it’s up to the public. The first, second and third place winning schools will be chosen by an online vote on Festival’s Facebook page from November 3 to November 16. The school receiving the most votes will net their PTA council $5,000.
