Sunrise Park Elementary: Making Kids Safer through Safety Prevention Education
Palm Beach County's KidSafe Foundation is bringing its safety programs to Boca Raton's Sunrise Park Elementary, thanks to a grant from The Salah Foundation. Sunrise Park's entire student body (nearly 1,000 children) will participate in comprehensive prevention education programs. In addition, over 65 teachers and staff members will receive the KidSafe Teacher Workshop, and over 2,000 parents can participate in The KidSafe Parent Seminar.
"Every child deserves the right to learn the skills to keep themselves safe. Kidsafe is taught in a fun, non-threatening manner. Children learn respect for self and others, body boundaries, bullying/peer pressure, internet safety, cyber bullying and leadership skills. The Salah Foundation grant is helping give the Sunrise Park kids power and a voice," said Cherie Benjoseph, cofounder of KidSafe.
Safety prevention education helps save students' lives in countless and immeasurable ways. Education is key, since one out of three girls and one out of six boys will be sexually exploited before the age of 18. 95% of these child molestation cases can be prevented, according to Kidsafe. Sunrise Park is empowering its entire student body, so that they have the knowledge to make safer and smarter choices.
